Job Title
Co-Owner & CEO

Specialty:
Strength Movements

Why I Started Parkour:
I got into Parkour as a way to become healthier and learn more about my body’s natural ability. I was amazed at what I started seeing other people doing in the early days of Parkour's YouTube glory.

Why I Love Parkour:
Parkour is incredibly accessible. You can do it anywhere, and it takes little to no money to get started. The community is like nothing I've experienced with other sports. My first experiences were a group of welcoming individuals, and 7 years later that still rings true today.
Job Title
Co-Owner & Chief Design Officer

Specialty:
I wouldn’t say I have one, but I really enjoy anything to do with bars. I think it can be challenging but so rewarding to conquer a movement and your fear on a bar.

Why I Started Parkour:
When I was first introduced to Parkour, I have to admit, I did not “start Parkour.” I enjoyed watching the people in the community, I enjoyed taking photos, and I enjoyed just being a part of the community. I took my time “starting.” As I learned more about the community and how bonded it was, I started to dabble a bit. Learning a simple movement here or there, or just running through the streets of Calgary looking for the next “spot”. Once I got a taste of Parkour through tiny accomplishments, I wanted more!

Why I Love Parkour:
These days Parkour can do so much for the individual. Everything from making a career out of it, to meditation and holistic ideology, to developing your creativity. You can dabble a little by adding it to your fitness routine, or you can start your own Parkour team with some of your friends. You can also travel with Parkour. The people in this community are so amazing! They will open their doors to out of towners and out of towners will be grateful just to have a roof over their head. It’s really all about the people and the connections you make in the community that make Parkour so amazing!
Job Title
District Manager

Specialty
Double Kongs and Kong Precisions

Why I Started Parkour
Like many of us, I started Parkour without knowing that it had a name (we just called it “Aggressive Walking” when I was a kid). I would climb and jump and play within my environment all the time. Then, also like many of us, I saw Casino Royale and a bunch of Youtube videos, and knew that this was something I needed to do more of. Also, back flips. I really wanted to learn back flips.

Why I Love Parkour
That’s a big questions for me, and I’ll spare you the lengthy answer (but if you ever want to hear it, just ask for me at the front desk). In short, Parkour went from being this awesome thing that involved flips to something that I could devote my life to. I know I won’t be able to do flips forever, but hopefully my involvement in the sport and with Breathe will introduce this amazing sport to a wider audience, and help shape the next generation to approach their environment and their bodies with the respect and understanding that they deserve.

Customer Interaction Manager

Specialty
The Game “Add On”

Why I Started Parkour
I started training Parkour because I was tired of repeating the same routine day in and day out. Sometimes it has been difficult to maintain a steady training pace throughout the past few years, but now that I have such a fantastic team around me, it has become much easier!

Why I Love Parkour
I love Parkour because it can be as easy or as challenging as I would like to make it. There isn't a training session that I don't find some movement that I need to add focus to. Parkour, to me, is also great for cross training with the other activities I do.
Job Title
Program Director/Pro Trainer

Specialty
Delving deep into the minds of my students and combating their innermost demons and fears... Also, dad jokes.

Why I Started Parkour
I grew up in a jungle. I was found and raised by a friendly panther and his hetero life partner bear. We quickly learned that with my delicate fur-less body, I would need some way to combat the many adventures that were sure to come my way. I learned the ways of the animals and grew to become the most fearsome protector of the jungle.

Why I Love Parkour
I found it very difficult to express my love for parkour... so I wrote a poem:
Oh Parkour, shall I compare thee to a Summer’s day?
Love is not love, if Summer’s lease has all too short a date.
Not marble, nor the gilded monuments of princes,
Make a famine where abundance lies.
O, learn to read what silent love hath writ:
To hear with eyes belongs to love's fine wit.

Why I Started Parkour
I grew up playing video games and watching old kung-fu movies. I always admired how the characters would fearlessly jump from thing to thing and run up walls to get where they needed. One day I decided I was going to be like my heroes, so I started practicing movements. Before I knew it I could do everything they could!

Why I Love Parkour
While Parkour started as just emulating the people I look up to, it is now something I can no longer describe. I'd love to be able to put it into words, but honestly I feel all words fall short. Parkour is my life, passion, challenge, growth, and fun. Parkour is everything to me.
Job Title
Pro Trainer/Front Desk Rep

Specialty
Fear challenges and precision based training

Why I Started Parkour
I began my Parkour adventure with my friends and fellow instructors, immaturely climbing walls and vaulting fences. It wasn't until we found a little gym specializing in the practice that we would start to take it seriously. I wasn’t sold in the beginning, as I would have much rather been sitting in my room playing video games, but after training more and more it easily became something very special to me. To date, Parkour has brought me together with so many amazing people who just want to play, have fun, and discover the world around them through movement.

Why I Love Parkour
I love Parkour because it’s very personal. Not everyone is going to be the greatest, but you can figure out what you’re good at and roll with it. Parkour brings play and adventure back into your life after years of being told to grow up. It teaches you how your body moves and lets you get creative regardless of your skill level. It makes you think about life differently. No longer are you looking for ways around a blockade, or trying to find a constructed path to where you’re going. You start craving your own path and begin overcoming your own physical/mental challenges, which has given me more self confidence than anything other sport I’ve tried (soccer, baseball, basketball, etc) . Above all else, Parkour introduced me to the amazing communities here in Calgary and around the world. From the traceurs of Vancouver to Paris, the people who train Parkour are some of the best people I’ve ever met.
Job Title
Pro Trainer

Specialty
Generalist, Power Jumping

Why I Started Parkour
Having played conventional sports such as basketball for most of my life, I wanted to explore physical activity in a different way. I was drawn to the raw athleticism and “be strong to be useful” philosophy displayed by the practitioners of the time.

Why I Love Parkour
Through Parkour, I gained an appreciation for movement from a different perspective, one that focuses on freedom, self-directed challenge, environmental awareness, and functional fitness. As I practiced Parkour, I got to know an amazing community of people who I continue to train with today. As an instructor, I have seen the benefits of Parkour in the physical literacy and confidence of younger practitioners and this has inspired me to pursue a degree in Kinesiology and teaching.
Job Title
Pro Trainer, Front Desk Rep, Super Pro Cool Guy

Specialty
front flips, and the ability to turn into a turnip at will.

Why I Started Parkour
I started Parkour with my friend Jared when I was about 11. We started after seeing old parkour videos on Youtube, doing simple things with bad form. Eventually a Parkour Gym opened up around my house, so I started formally training, still simple things with bad form, but training nonetheless. I started doing parkour because it was different. When I started, nobody I knew did parkour or even knew it existed. So naturally, when I heard of it I was enamored by the mystery of what my body could do. And the more I did it, the more I wanted to push myself to really see what could be done with just my body and my surroundings.

Why I Love Parkour
I love Parkour for the freedom that it grants you. Parkour lets you move in a way that is against the norm, yet more natural than many ways we get around today. Parkour brings people together through the simple love of movement. Many people from different walks of life gather together to explore what the human body is capable of, and I think that's pretty neat.
Job Title
Pro Trainer/Front Desk Rep

Specialty
Private training, finding progressions that work specifically with whomever I'm training

Why I Started Parkour
I started Parkour because I used to have no hobbies other than video games, and I decided to try something new. So I found a local Parkour gym, and ever since then I've been hooked.

Why I Love Parkour
I love Parkour because it's so much more than just a sport. It's a part of how I move in my daily life. It’s a passion, it's a lifestyle, it's a form of self expression, and it's all subjective to whoever is training. There are no boundaries for Parkour, as your imagination is the core of the sport, and that's what I love about it.
Specialty
Rehabilitation and Parkour for all us old people

Why I Started Parkour
I was a ski racer who wanted to learn to backflip; then I realized that Parkour could teach me to do a heck of a lot more.

Why I Love Parkour
The community. Hands down. Worldwide, it is the most supportive, inclusive, and welcoming community I have ever been a part of. Parkour practitioners have always gladly offered me advice to help progress my development no matter how limited or how grand my skill set has been at the time. The people make Parkour.
