Why I Started Parkour
I began my Parkour adventure with my friends and fellow instructors, immaturely climbing walls and vaulting fences. It wasn't until we found a little gym specializing in the practice that we would start to take it seriously. I wasn’t sold in the beginning, as I would have much rather been sitting in my room playing video games, but after training more and more it easily became something very special to me. To date, Parkour has brought me together with so many amazing people who just want to play, have fun, and discover the world around them through movement.

Why I Love Parkour
I love Parkour because it’s very personal. Not everyone is going to be the greatest, but you can figure out what you’re good at and roll with it. Parkour brings play and adventure back into your life after years of being told to grow up. It teaches you how your body moves and lets you get creative regardless of your skill level. It makes you think about life differently. No longer are you looking for ways around a blockade, or trying to find a constructed path to where you’re going. You start craving your own path and begin overcoming your own physical/mental challenges, which has given me more self confidence than anything other sport I’ve tried (soccer, baseball, basketball, etc) . Above all else, Parkour introduced me to the amazing communities here in Calgary and around the world. From the traceurs of Vancouver to Paris, the people who train Parkour are some of the best people I’ve ever met.

Why I Started Parkour
I started Parkour because I used to have no hobbies other than video games, and I decided to try something new. So I found a local Parkour gym, and ever since then I've been hooked.

Why I Love Parkour
I love Parkour because it's so much more than just a sport. It's a part of how I move in my daily life. It’s a passion, it's a lifestyle, it's a form of self expression, and it's all subjective to whoever is training. There are no boundaries for Parkour, as your imagination is the core of the sport, and that's what I love about it.

Why I Started Parkour:
I was introduced to Parkour by some friends, and immediately fell in love with it. I had always been interested in this kind of movement, and my friends helped me see how easy it was to start learning.

Why I Love Parkour:
I love Parkour because it allows me to let out my creative side. I am not very creative in any other way, but I love to explore different movements. I also enjoy Parkour because I can pass on my experience to my students. Parkour has given me so much happiness, and I love being able to share that with others.

Why I Started Parkour

Why I Love Parkour
I've always been an athlete and loved to move, but there's a feeling of freedom in Parkour that I never got anywhere else. Also the community is by far the nicest I've ever met.

Why I Started Parkour
Having played conventional sports such as basketball for most of my life, I wanted to explore physical activity in a different way. I was drawn to the raw athleticism and “be strong to be useful” philosophy displayed by the practitioners of the time.

Why I Love Parkour
Through Parkour, I gained an appreciation for movement from a different perspective, one that focuses on freedom, self-directed challenge, environmental awareness, and functional fitness. As I practiced Parkour, I got to know an amazing community of people who I continue to train with today. As an instructor, I have seen the benefits of Parkour in the physical literacy and confidence of younger practitioners and this has inspired me to pursue a degree in Kinesiology and teaching.

Why I Started:
I started out as a national gymnast and my friends started doing Parkour, so I tried it. I liked the variety of skill and creativity involved and I got hooked.

Why I Love It:
I love testing my body and challenging myself. When I learn a new movement I feel accomplished and look for ways to use it in different circumstances. It's also fun to just jump around and have a good time!

Delving deep into the minds of my students and combating their innermost demons and fears... Also, dad jokes.

Why I Started Parkour
I grew up in a jungle. I was found and raised by a friendly panther and his hetero life partner bear. We quickly learned that with my delicate fur-less body, I would need some way to combat the many adventures that were sure to come my way. I learned the ways of the animals and grew to become the most fearsome protector of the jungle.

Why I Love Parkour
I found it very difficult to express my love for parkour... so I wrote a poem:
Oh Parkour, shall I compare thee to a Summer’s day?
Love is not love, if Summer’s lease has all too short a date.
Not marble, nor the gilded monuments of princes,
Make a famine where abundance lies.
O, learn to read what silent love hath writ:
To hear with eyes belongs to love's fine wit.
The perfect starting point for students between 11 and 15 years old.
